“The GRACE Scholarship has helped us beyond belief. When I received the award letter I was amazed and overwhelmed. It has allowed me to send my second child to St. Joseph School. We thank God and the church for making this possible because it has been a true blessing.”

Dear Grace Scholars,

It is with sincere gratitude that we thank you and all who contributed to the scholarship fund. A few simple words of appreciation cannot express what it means to our family to be able to raise our children in a faith-based school.

Because of the economic recession, my husband and I were not sure if we were going to be able to send our son to St. Peter’s this year. Then we heard about GRACE and thankfully our son was awarded a scholarship. We are so very thankful that we were able to carry out our wish of raising our children in a parochial school.

    Yours in Gratitude,

“The GRACE Scholarship helped us give our son a wonderful start to his Catholic education. I love volunteering at the school as a way of giving back.”

Dear GRACE Scholars,

It is with sincere appreciation that we accept the scholarship from GRACE Scholars, Inc. For the wonderful people who donate money to this fund, for a child to receive funds towards their education, is a wonderful reflection of the givers heart. As a way of saying “thank you” to the individuals who have given us this monetary gift, I have prayed for them.

Receiving this scholarship was one way, we feel, God was confirming we were making the correct decision in sending our child to private school, Sacred Heart. To GRACE and everyone involved at GRACE – THANK YOU!!

I consider myself a faithful Catholic. I am ashamed I didn’t pay attention to the message of GRACE when I first heard about it.  Now it’s clear to me. When I contribute, I get 100% of my money back, I live out the Gospel message by helping families of students who wouldn’t normally be able to afford quality Catholic education, I act on my duty to spread the Gospel message by helping our Catholic schools educate children in our faith . . . and it didn’t cost me a dime! All I needed to do is CARE.

The GRACE Scholarship has been a true blessing to our family. When our second child was ready to enter elementary school, we were not sure if we would be able to provide for our family with the additional expense. GRACE provided our family with the extra help we needed to assure our family would be able to keep our children in Catholic school. Providing our children with a Catholic education is an absolute priority in our lives and we are so blessed that GRACE has helped us achieve this goal. We are so thankful to the families that take the time to set up to contribute to GRACE and we hope they realize how many families benefit from the tax dollars they would pay anyway. I know we are just one of many families who can continue to keep our children in Catholic school because of GRACE and we thank God every single day for this blessing.

When asked the question “What does receiving the Grace Scholarship mean to your family?” My husband and I are overcome with emotion. We decided from early in our marriage, before we had children that we wanted to send them to our parish’s parochial school. However, the question remained, “How would we be able to afford it?” We are a one-income family. Then last spring we were directly affected by the downturn in the economy. My husband worked for years in the engineering and construction field, and his firm had several rounds of lay-offs. We simply were not financially stable enough to afford a private school’s tuition. We then began to explore the idea of homeschooling, but we had always hoped to send our children to St. Catherine’s. We turned to prayer. We knew that if it was God’s will that our child be at St. Catherine’s, He would make a way for us. When we first heard of the Grace Scholarship Program, we got out our checkbook and contributed what we could. We were thrilled at the aspect of this kind of scholarship fund being created, and excited about the doors that would be open to families like ours who otherwise would not be able to consider the private school option.

The scholarship was an answer to our prayers. We are filled with hope and joy at being able to send our child off to Kindergarten this August at a place we call our “second home”. Our family is so very grateful to all those who contributed to the scholarship fund, and we look forward to always doing what we can to support the fund as well. Thank you!

One sweet little girl entering kindergarten is the youngest of four and has a brother with special needs. The care and education of the brother is very taxing on the family’s resources. Dad just learned that his salary was being cut by a third – he is still grateful to have a job – but things will be even more difficult. The family sought the advice of a financial planner in hopes that a “fresh eye” would help them through the difficult times to come. The planner told them that their first cut had to be Catholic school tuition from their strained budget. Dad said that he would go without clothes and food for himself and his wife before he would cut Catholic education. GRACE has come along just when he thought his prayers were not being heard. GRACE makes it possible to give his youngest a Catholic education he so richly values.

GRACE is more than tuition assistance – it is an answered prayer for our GRACE Scholar recipients. These families value Catholic education. They are very active in their parishes and in their communities.
