St. Peter Claver SchoolHere’s what Church leaders are saying…

It would be impossible to imagine our American society today without the transforming grace of Catholic school graduates.

Archbishop of Atlanta
Statement on Catholic Education
February 2010

GRACE Scholars provides an opportunity to help families who may not have the financial resources to provide a desired Catholic education for their children.  Your gift can make a tremendous impact in the life of a child.

The Most Reverend Gregory J. Hartmayer, OFM Conv.
Bishop of Savannah

Young people are a valued treasure and the future leaders of our Church. It is the responsibility of the entire Catholic community – bishops, priests, deacons, religious, and laity – to continue to strive towards the goal of making our Catholic elementary and secondary schools available, accessible, and affordable to all Catholic parents and their children, including those who are poor and middle class.

Renewing Our Commitment to Catholic Elementary and Secondary Schools in the Third Millennium
June 2005

Who needs Catholic schools, anyway? The answer: We all do. The graduates they produce emerge as lifelong practitioners of their faith. These Catholic graduates have been, are and will be our leaders in church and society.

His Eminence Timothy Cardinal Dolan
Archbishop of New York
“The Catholic Schools We Need”
America, Sept. 13, 2010

The involvement of parishes is critical to meeting the U. S. bishops’ challenge. Georgia’s Catholic bishops founded GRACE Scholars to take advantage of a significant in state income tax laws to achieve the goals set forth in the bishops’ statement, especially the commitment that “Catholic schools will be available, accessible, and affordable.”  Whether the parish hosts a school, enjoys a bond with a nearby school, or is looking for an opportunity to reach out to a school with unmet tuition assistance needs, GRACE can help a parish make a difference in the lives of many deserving children.

Over the past four years, it has become clear that the best parish campaigns for GRACE fully engage a parish with a school. Like a microwave, the involvement of the parish warms from the inside out, and the parish becomes bonded to the school. The materials provided within this section of the website are intended to help a parish achieve an effective and fulfilling relationship with a school and GRACE.
